Quick 2024 Recap
More of a journal entry for the year than anything else.
Hello hello, I have been thinking about writing a recap update on everything 2024 for a bit but have been too busy to get it done. Wanted to do a decade recap as well but decided to do that some other time. So I quickly made my way to a cafe to write this up and get it over with.
Anddd I can’t remember how the year started? Realising that our memories are so fickle that I don’t even remember the current year month on month forget decades.
Anyway, after scrolling through photos - I’m remembering things now.
Q1 [Jan, Feb, Mar]
Ran A LOT [including a few 10Ks and Mumbai Marathon (21K)]: The year starts with marathon season and like every year I start dreaming and working towards my full marathon goal that I have been failing at since 2016. But somehow, I ran a few 10Ks and finally the Mumbai Marathon albeit 21K but still it was THE one to run. Finished it in 3 hours which is absolute garbage but just glad I completed it without any serious practice or training.
Attended a friend’s wedding in Lucknow: December through February is always wedding season in India and for the first time, I am the age where friends have started to get married. Visited Lucknow for it in a short trip which reminded me that I need to travel India a bit as well.
Met my current girlfriend for the first time: Every January, the society where I live becomes the best place in the city because its “Sports Fiesta” szn which means competition between buildings in every sport from carrom, squash, tennis to football and cricket. This time round, after years I was in the city for it and fit enough to participate in the football tournament. That’s when I met my current girlfriend who had then recently moved back in India. Shocked at first that such a pretty girl lives in my building to us talking more and more over the next few weeks.
Got a whoop to focus on my health: Still taking my health really seriously as it was my most important goal for the year, I purchased a Whoop to track my metrics and to try and get better at sports while building strength, building cardio health and getting good sleep.

Q2 [Apr, May, June]
Got injured while playing football: My yearly trajectory kinda changed when in April, a rookie player ran into me and broke my knee ligament. At first I thought it might be a small injury but slowly the reality started hitting me that this might be something bigger. After a few weeks, got to know that its a complete tear and a surgery is needed. Me being me, I wanted to get the surgery done asap so that I waste less time in bed and can get started on recovery asap but as luck would have it I had a partial meniscus tear as well, so I had to wait a few months before getting surgery. Which meant sedentary lifestyle for a loooong time.
Started dating and took a small trip with her: Well, the girl I met in January, we got close and really hit it off and soon started dating. So 2024 is a very big year for me because I got into a committed relationship after ages? We took a small trip to the outskirts of Mumbai near a lake which was the cutest ngl.
Adopted a smol catto: One day before getting injured, my girlfriend found an abandoned small cat in the society and felt really upset and wanted to adopt him. Sadly, her parents didn’t let her and shockingly my mom felt bad for the kitten and decided that its okay to get him home. And soooo we suddenly had a new family member in the house. We named him ‘Modak’ because its a running joke between me and my girlfriend where we name cats on Indian food items like Poha and Misal.
Travelled to Dubai for work (with the broken leg): Travelled to Dubai to work with the Polynomial team and get on the same page to ship Polynomial Chain (an OP Stack L2, might be gibberish for some of you here so just think of it as a new product) Sadly, got diarrhoea so wasn’t the best of the trips but got a taste of dubai and I might move there potentially let’s see. Met a few friends that I haven’t met in years which was really fun. I think one thing I love is meeting people you know but haven’t spoken to in a bit and going and meeting them in the cities they live in.

Q3 [Jul, Aug, Sep]
Travelled to Kerala for another friends wedding: Still not ready for the surgery, a friend and co-founder of the company I was working with was getting married in his hometown which is small town or rather a large village in Kerala. Flew to Kochi and got a cab from there to this small town, attended his wedding which was really fun and beautiful. But just before that had gotten my wisdom tooth removed so wasn’t able to drink or smoke.
Went to Munnar for a small peaceful workation: Travelled to Kerala so might as well get a workation out of it. Life has some perks when you can work remotely. Absolutely the best part is that I can travel and work, its hectic but you get early mornings, evenings and great weekends out of your life. Also Munnar might be one of my favourite places, it was surreal. I did not expect it to be so beautiful honestly.
Got my first ever surgery: Finally on 16th July, I got the surgery. It was a little scary but quite a painfree experience. Doctors are magicians. There were too many lessons from this experience and I want to do a whole essay on it but for now. But for now, just grateful for all friends who visited me when I was stuck in my bed. And specially grateful for my fam who helped me through this and made this a piece of cake.
Fumbled my biggest trade ever by not selling: The last few months, I truly got ‘onchain’ which means doing things on the blockchain and bought a token called $degen which went 1000x since my first purchase, ofcourse I kept selling and booking profits but my initial $100 would have been $100K+. Apart from that it did go up to $40K but human emotions are real, I thought it could go even higher and thanks to greed, I didn’t sell and it ended up going 80% down from that ATH. So I fumbled money at the scale, I didn’t imagine I would.

Q4 [Oct, Nov, Dec]
Travelled to Singapore for Token2049: I was not planning to travel anywhere for a few months and was only going to focus on physiotherapy when I had a call with a friend who convinced me that I should go to Singapore; network, meet friends, watch F1 etc since the flight was cheap af. Life changing decision in hindsight.
Started working with Mira in a full-time role: I have joined mira.network and am helping them with everything marketing. I had spoken to Karan at the start of the year but I wasn’t sure about taking a FT gig at that but met him irl in Singapore and we ended up hitting off. Decided to join them FT in November. Another long essay on this later since so many of y’all have no idea what I do for work.
Travelled to Thailand for a month: I was going to Thailand for a month in April, and just 4 days before that I broke my leg so this felt like a trip that was pending but this time, it was to attend ‘Devcon’ in Bangkok. From there I decided to travel to Koh Tao and Koh Samui to relax and work before the challenge at Mira starts. I had planned to do the Advanced scuba diver course as well. But after the first 2 dives, my ears had massive equalisation problems and I decided against doing it. This was the first solo trip when I was dating and not into drinking so it wasn’t the best one. I came back realising, I want to travel with friends or a partner next time. Or maybe just take a trip without taking work with me. I think, that would’ve been really nice as well.
Launched a Node Delegate program and collected $250K: At Mira, one of the first things I worked on was a node delegator program where users can run mira nodes without knowing the technical stuff. I was leading this whole project so it was really fun, ended up getting $250K in a few hours, 1.5M+ impressions on Twitter and 15K followers as well. Most successful and stressful thing I have done and led in my 6 year career as of now.

Ending
Overall, A LOT happened in 2024. I was not expecting this but now I am so pumped for 2025, I think its going to be even greater and bigger than 2024. I am grateful for all of my friends, family, health, everything. I don’t believe in God but certainly luck has played a big role in my life. I lead a very lucky life to have such a happening life.
“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.”
Truly, decade worth of stuff happened in 2024.
